General Hospital Cliffhanger Friday 04/15/16: Shifting Power Relations Across the Board

April 16, 2016 By Tessa McKenzie

Hello, LTAS readers! I’m Dr. Riley, Human Relations Analyst, and I’m back again with my analysis of the people in Port Charles. Here’s what I observed this week!

Observationsimgres-1

Hayden Barnes thinks she has the upper hand this week. She pulled out all the stops on Nikolas and demanded he sign over ELQ. She then went and told Tracy that she has no intention of signing the company over to her as they had planned. She’s running around making plans and moves for a company that isn’t even hers yet. And it never will be. Now what will her next move be? Her only ally is Curtis. Can they come up with a plan to keep her in town and out of jail?

Jason Morgan bought the shares of ELQ that Nikolas had. He made him an offer he couldn’t refuse, and Nikolas took it. This way, Spencer would still have a secure future. Jason then went and handed the shares over to Tracy and Michael at the hospital. He put Michael back in charge and told them to redistribute the shares as Edward had left them in his will. This leaves Tracy with no shares, however she is still grateful to Jason for bringing the family legacy back. I think this version of Jason is a combination of both sides of him from before and after his first accident with A.J. He seems to be battling his loyalties, yet somehow is maintaining a decent relationship with everyone from his past, all the while still being able to provide some semblance of the help he used to provide—to both Sonny and the Quartermaines. One thing is for certain though, he definitely still has the fierce side of Stone Cold flowing through him and he comes out every once in while—especially when he feels those he loves are in danger. So what kind of man is he? Does he maintain this balance between good and bad, does he eventually join up with ELQ and work for them, or does he find his way back to Sonny? Only time will tell, but I like the balanced version, and part of me hopes he stays this way.

Michael Corinthos is happy to be in charge of ELQ again. This may be the distraction he needs to forget about Sabrina and the baby. Even Sonny has noticed his unhealthy obsession with her disappearance. But now that Carlos is in custody, will Michael be able to keep his distance or will he go back to searching for her?

Morgan Corinthos seems to be getting well. His main concern is to get back on track, so he can be released and go help Kiki. He knows she is more troubled than it appears. But is he just saying all the right stuff so that he can get out, or is he really starting to get better, bit by bit?

Kiki Jerome is out of the hospital and staying with Franco. Ava is still uneasy about the threats she’s been receiving and prefers that Kiki not be with her until she gets to the bottom of the threats. Even though Kiki is out, she still isn’t back to her full health—not mentally anyway. Every loud noise she hears sends her into a state of trembling fear, and she doesn’t like to be alone. Maybe she should be staying where Morgan is? I’m not sure she can handle the day-to-day reality around her yet.

Julian Jerome is circling the drain. But what is he going down for first? Will Alexis catch him being head of the Jerome organization again or will he go down for Duke’s murder first? I’m not sure he can stay on top of it all, and he seems worried too. Could these really be his last days of freedom?

Carlos Rivera is back in Port Charles and behind bars. But he isn’t talking yet. Who should be concerned when he does? Anna, Julian, or Paul? He used his phone call to contact Julian, but Paul also had a moment alone with him. Who does he decide to stay loyal to?

Anna Devane has done all she can do to bring Duke’s killer(s) to justice. But she had to break some laws on the way. Is she finally going to have to face the consequences of all her actions? Does she go down for the attempted murder of Carlos and kidnapping Paul Hornsby?

Dr. Finn is definitely hiding something. When Carly finds him unconscious, he tells her the needles are for his diabetes. But if it were that simple, why didn’t he explain his condition to Dr. O as his reason for missing his lecture? There’s more to him than meets the eye, but will he even stick around long enough for us to find out his full story?

Couples Observations

Maxie and Nathan are in trouble. She is still having a hard time dropping the Claudette issue, and with good reason too! It is obvious Nathan is still holding back something about Claudette. To top all of that off, Maxie keeps having little run-ins with Dr. Munro and it seems like they have an attraction, one that grew when they bonded over Duke at the Metro Court. Can Nathan hold on to her, or is she already gone?

Lulu and Dante are on the right path. They are taking part in couple’s therapy sessions and working together to build their relationship back up. Can they get back the love they once had and make their family whole again—including Valerie?

Sam and Jason are back together. They can’t keep their hands off of each other now! He’s maintaining a good balance between his past and present, and Sam accepts him for who he is. Their love is new and old. Their connection has always been there, but for him it’s like experiencing something that feels right, for the very first time. Maybe someday they will get remarried. One can only hope!

Nina and Franco were on the rocks, but there may be hope after all. Nathan was able to help Nina see that Franco did no wrong, and that in fact it was she that deceived Franco. He pointed out that Franco has always been honest with how he felt about having kids and that even when she lied, he still offered his comfort to her because he loves her. This softened her up, and she called Franco after a few days of avoiding him. Can they find their way back to each other?

Curtis and Valerie are about to be over before they even really got started! She walked in on him meeting with Hayden for the second time and was not pleased with what she sees. Is she overreacting or do they have more than a friendship growing between them?

Final Rundown

Tensions are running high in Port Charles this week. Control is shifting everywhere! ELQ is back with the Q family and Julian is back with the mob. Sonny is back on his feet and just got done working with Anna Devane. How’s that for a change? Will their efforts be futile or will justice prevail when it comes to Carlos Rivera? Paul Hornsby is also losing his grasp on his position as DA. Will his latest dealings with Carlos and Ava put him out of a job, or maybe even behind bars? And how much longer will Dr. Finn be in town now that he is almost done treating Tracy? Dr. O made it quite clear thathe is not G.H. material. Does she have a personal vendetta against him, or is it really his professionalism that she questions?
