The Bold And The Beautiful Cliffhanger Friday; 09-15-17: Changing Roles

What’s up #BoldandBeautiful fans? Today is another Cliffhanger Friday and since I’ve been MIA for a couple of weeks, I’m just going to do a breakdown. Ahhh, “Let’s Talk About Soaps.”

Well as you know my main man $Bill got tired of waiting for what he wanted. He’d been patient, offered more money than the property was worth, but still unable to get what he wanted. So, $Bill did the same thing any good villain would do, he burned down Spectra.

To no one’s surprise, Rescue Ranger Liam had to figure it out and be all self-righteous. However, many was surprised at how he dealt with the situation. The hypocrite secretly records $Bill’s confession and blackmails him. SAY WHAT?????? Yes, once again, Rescue Ranger looking through his rose colored glasses breaks the law to suit his self-righteousness.

Boy, I want to kick you’re a*s all kinds of ways messing with $Bill. Thankfully, $Bill took care of that after signing the letter of resignation; hypocrite all puffed up decides to get smart and $Bill knocked him into next week. Oh, what a lovely site as Blackmailing Rescue Ranger’s knee’s buckled under him and it was a KO. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Not to disappoint, $Bill stands over his demon spawn and tells him, “I don’t get even with my enemies, I decimate them.” Yes, yes, yes; decimate that troll $Bill, decimate him.

Well Steffy stops by and is shocked that Blackmailer went through with his plan. I declare, I’m positive I saw a smirk on Steffy’s face when she saw that shiner Rescue Ranger had as a casualty of war with $Bill. She reiterated that this is not a battle he wants to fight and to make up with his father. Nope, no way; Blackmailer isn’t having it.

Steffy leaves to try and talks some sense into $Bill. As usual, he opens up to her and tells her everything. Feeling compassion for $Bill, Steffy embraces him. Now $Bill might start off using Steffy; but lights were flashing, firecrackers going off as memories from six years ago flood in to me. Now lovelies, you all know I drag Steffy, yep I do. But I’m letting you know right here and right now. If I get a return of #STILL, my dragging days of Steffy will cease for a while. I’m going to need my STILL because I’ve always felt both of them could truly be themselves with each other. Steffy brought out the best in $Bill and he in her; she’s wasted her time with Wyatt & Rescue Ranger. The chemistry was off the charts with STILL; I’m 100% #TeamSTILL.

Hypocrite Blackmailer calls in Sally Spectra 2.0 and gifts her the property. She’s shocked and amazed of his “kindness.” I don’t call it “kindness,” I call it what the law calls it, misappropriations of corporate funds, thief, and embezzlement. Oh, did I forget to say that this “gift” must be kept secret and no one can know, including $Bill and his WIFE, Steffy?

We all know Sally is the ultimate taker and had absolutely no problem taking this “gift.” Chile, when oh when are you going to stand on your two feet? Never, because even if Spectra succeeds, she will ALWAYS be indebted to Forrester Creations, Thomas, and now Spencer Publications for the hundreds of millions of dollars. #GirlBye, I can’t tolerate you right now.

Anywhooooo, Sally embraces Liam. Oh, wait, what is this I see? Is this a chemistry spark? Well now we know how this hypocrite blackmailing rescue ranger fool loves a damsel in distress. I see LALLY coming. Hey, I’m not mad at it because this means I have a better chance of get STILL. Go LALLY go.

Brooke had to use a crow bar to get the info out of $Bill and once he began to tell her she was light a deer in headlights. He had to break it down to her like a five year old child.

Then Brooke gets pissed, “I dare you, who are you?” #GirlBye, he’s the same man who did dirty deeds to your daughter, dumped Ridge into the ocean, and a laundry list of other things you know about. But NOW, you decide to get pissed, Brooke, I can’t with you.

In utter faux shock; Brooke storms out. Yes, go Brooke go, leave $Bill so I can have my STILL.

So, what will happen next? How long will it take for Liam to totally drive Spencer Publications into the ground? Will $Bill allies Justin, Allison, and Wyatt sabotage Liam? How long will it take for $Bill to decimate Blackmailing Hypocrite Rescue Ranger Liam? What is Steffy going to do Liam when she finds out that he LIED to her about Sally’s “gift?” Will #LALLY happen? Most importantly, will I get my #STILL? You tell me

The Bold And The Beautiful Cliffhanger Friday; 08-25-17: It’s Getting Hot In Here

Awww, someone get the fire extinguisher because sparks are flying and “It’s Getting Hot In Here” #BoldandBeautiful fans. This Cliffhanger Friday is burning up and I have a little treat for you at the end of this column. Ready, set, “Let’s Talk About Soaps.”

Ridge inquires why Thomas suddenly went to New York. Steffy tries to cover with “he’s got his priorities in order, putting his family first, and away from Spectra.” Ridge still feels something is off with Thomas departing so suddenly. Talk moves on to Sheila living at the Forrester mansion and how Ridge doesn’t know if and when Eric will ever forgive him.

On the other side of the railroad tracks, everyone is scurrying around getting ready for the big Spectra fashion show. The phone rings and its Thomas, Sally asks him if he received the emails of her designs and if he can fly in for the show. He’s indeed received the emails and thinks her designs are fabulous; however, he doesn’t know how much longer Caroline has and he can’t come. Sally is a little pissed and lets him know that it’s as simple as flying in for a day. No luck buttercup; he’s not coming.

Rescue Ranger Liam is rubbing salt in $Bill’s womb by singing the praises of Sally Spectra. $Bill is cool as a cucumber. Gloating, he says that Spectra’s designs will be well received, $Bill might have to find another place to build his building and to be prepared to have a plan B. Justin comes in just as Rescue Ranger flies out the door to his next mission. $Bill tells Justin he has a plan B.

Cool Breeze Justin came up with the scheme to torch Spectra; but now he’s acting like he has cold feet when $Bill is interested in moving forward with plan B. $Bill wants the dirt on the Spectra building; Cool Breeze Justin is a step ahead of him with his trusted folder filled with goodies. CJ’s insurance on the building has expired. Oh what luck, the look in $Bills is priceless.

Rescue Ranger lands at his next location, which is Forrester Creations to continue singing the Spectra praises. Ridge is annoyed and Steffy gushes on what a good guy Rescue Ranger is looking out for the little guy. Yeah, right.

The Ranger shares that $Bill says he won’t interfere with Spectra; both Ridge and Steffy are skeptical. Although skeptical too, Rescue Ranger can’t help himself and defends $Bill because “there’s nothing he can do.” Aww, shucks, the Rescue Ranger’s powers are thwart.

Granny called the handyman that clearly told Silly Sally yesterday to shut down and get a licensed electrician in to rewire the building. Why? He repeated what he told Silly Sally yesterday, to shut down all power and call a licensed electrician in ASAP to rewire the building. Noooooooooo, Silly Sally says it will be ok for “one more day.” How stupid can Silly Sally be? Not only is she endangering her life and the life of her staff; she’s willing to endanger the lives of the buyers and media at the fashion show. Now $Bill maybe ruthless; but he certainly isn’t responsible for this move.

Thrilled with the Spectra team’s willingness to pull an all-nighter to finish the job; Silly Sally insist on taking everyone to dinner.

$Bill tells Cool Breeze Justin it’s full speed ahead with the plan, but makes it perfectly clear that he doesn’t want anyone hurt and to be discrete. Later high up in the “sky” at Spencer Publications, $Bill is looking over the city when a text comes in from an Unknown Caller, simply saying “Done.” A lamp is plugged in the socket that caught fire yesterday and a blaze ensues.

I must say I’m happy to see my evil villain $Bill back to his normal self. He better not pay for his dirty deeds; because if he does, I expect everyone else to pay for theirs. I want my evil $Bill to walk like a free bird. As much as I’ve dragged Brooke in the past for all of her misdeeds; I’m #TeamBrill on this one; I loved how she was standing by her man yesterday. I would like to see this power couple become the super couple of evil.

Here’s my little remix based off of “It’s Getting Hot In Here” by Nelly; no copyright infringement intended.

I was like, good gracious, Sky is bodacious

Flirtatious, trying to show faces

$Bill waiting for the right time to spark the flame you know

Waiting for the right time to demo

Spectra’s leaving, $Bill’s believing, oh!

Bill and the rest of his heathens

Check it, got it locked at the top of Sky Seasons

Penthouse, roof top, Rescue Ranger he’s feeding

Bill is deceiving, something up his sleeve and

He’s teasing, he needs Spectra to

Get up out of the ground floor

Give that man what he’s asking for

‘Cause Bill is busing loose

And he feels like torching you, uh oh

And can’t nobody stop the juice

So Sally tell Bill what’s the use? He said

It’s getting hot in here, so hot, Bill is burning all the clothes

Spectra getting so hot, Bill burning Spectra’s clothes off

It’s getting hot in here, so hot, Bill is burning all the clothes

Spectra getting hot in here; holla Dolla, Dolla, Dolla

So, what will happen next? Will Spectra be able to save the designs or is all lost? Will Rescue Ranger find out that it was $Bill that sent the order to set Spectra ablaze? Or, will Rescue Ranger’s super powers kick in and he rushes to the Spectra building with a fire extinguisher? What will Brooke do if she finds out? Will she stand by her stallion or gallop off into the sunset with the next beau? Will $Bill lose all? You tell me…..

The Bold And The Beautiful Cliffhanger Friday; 07-29-17: Because You Could

Lovely #BoldandBeautiful fans here we are again, another Cliffhanger Friday. However, due to preemptions over the past several weeks, it’s just plain old Friday as the shows were pushed back. Hopefully, it will catchup and we will be left on the edge of our seats waiting for Monday; until then, “Let’s Talk About Soaps.”

The crew arrived in Monte Carlo for the fashion showdown. I’m thankful for the lovely location scenery shots because the rest is just a plain bore.

Let’s begin with this WATIE debacle, I don’t have much to say about this other than what the majority of the #BoldandBeautiful fans are saying, “JUST PLAIN NASTY!!!” It’s bad enough that Wyatt is once again taking sloppy seconds, this time from his father; but to swap spit and eventually knock boots with his brother’s mother is disturbing. Congratulations Bradley Bell, you have ruined two great characters Wyatt and Katie. Now, I must change their names to “Pervert Wyatt” and “Krazy Loose Koochy Katie.”

Thomas ask $Bill if “he’s sure” Caroline is dying and of course he’s sure. Let’s back up here a little; $Bill told Thomas that Caroline was dying from a disease so rare, it doesn’t even have a name to get him to “man up” and be with Caroline and Douglas. $Bill is getting a lot of blowback from fans for doing this; however, this is the REAL $Bill. Longtimers will remember that $Bill once paid off a doctor to tell Liam that Steffy had a brain tumor in order to get him away from Hope. So, why are we surprised that $Bill would repeat a tactic that worked so well for him before.

This is the $Bill that is true to his character; cold, calculating, manipulative; and the one I love. Welcome back $Bill, keep up the dirty work.

Caroline could have easily told Thomas the truth about not dying; but she let it linger on. One important truth she told Thomas was, DOUGLAS WAS NOT BORN OUT OF LOVE. Thank you, I have to give applause here and a standing ovation. Although Thomas said he wasn’t going to Monte Carlo, she insisted. Although Caroline caught a lot of flak for not telling Thomas the truth, I’m going to have to give her a pass here because she’s true to her character. Again, longtimers remember lying, hateful, and devious Caroline and all the dirty deeds she did to Maya. So, by lying to get what she wants; Caroline is just being Caroline.

The most poignant moment happened on Thursday between Ridge and Eric. I must commend John McCook and Thorsten Kaye for the superior Emmy worthy performance. I also have to commend the writers for excellent dialogue; although riveted with the falsehood that Eric knew Ridge wasn’t his son at birth as we all know that Eric didn’t find out this fact until well into Ridge’s adult life when he had an accident and needed blood.

John McCook and Thorsten Kaye brought tears to my eyes. When Ridge tried to take all the blame for Kissgate. He virtually threw himself under the bus by saying he did it “because he could” and wanted Eric to forgive Quinn and go back home to his wife.

Kleenex please; Eric responded by first apologizing for throwing the fact that he’s a Marone up every time he got upset. Then he went through a laundry list of reasons why Ridge was his son that had nothing to do with blood. After that; Eric broke down the list of offenses Ridge did to him and the things he took from him “because he could.” The tears weld up in my eyes.

Eric puts Ridge’s head in his hands and says, “I love being your father.” Then kissed Ridge on the forehead, stares him in the face and says “You’ll never be my son again.” He releases Ridge and goes to the window. Tears flow down Ridge’s face, he shakes his head and walks out the door. This was so powerful, emotional, and riveting that it even had Sheila in tears. Eric stares out the window stone faced. POWERFUL.

Again, I must give applause and a standing ovation to John McCook, Thorsten Kaye, and the writers for what I and many others; would classify and the best scene on #BoldandBeautiful this year.

So, what will happen next? Will Wyatt and Katie cross that line or not? What about $Bill, will he remain true his character and continue the lie? Will Caroline finally come clean with the fact that she’s not dying? And will Eric forever disown Ridge? You tell me.

The Bold And The Beautiful Cliffhanger Friday; 07-21-17:No Free Passes

#BoldandBeautiful fans we meet again on this Cliffhanger Friday to chew the fat and throw some shade. Technically, it’s not Cliffhanger Friday because Thursday’s program was preempted so we saw it on Friday. I guess I will have to give it a pass for the lack of the wow factor today. Also, since it’s Thursday’s show, I’m just going to do a short roundup. Anywhoooo, “Let’s Talk About Soaps.”

Starting off today is Mrs. Steffy Hypocrite Spencer lamenting Quinn for “Kissgate.” Chile please, Steffy is just as bad, she was sucking face with Rescue Ranger Lapdawg Liam while married to Wyatt. The ONLY reason she left Wyatt was because he wouldn’t buy into her lie about Eric’s POA. I’m DONE with this overdone hypocrite. It’s past time for Bell to jet her to the back burner and STOP putting her in every storyline. Fans have been complaining for months about the Steffy Show and how they are tired of it. But, it falls on deaf ears because once again, here she is in a story she has no business in.

Quinn is making me sick too, all this begging and groveling is past pathetic. This is NOT the evil, diabolical Quinn we love to hate. The Quinn we know would’ve been taken matters in her own hands to get her man back. #GirlBye

Ridge is busy blaming Sheila to Brooke. Dude, Sheila did Eric a solid, you know you and Quinn wouldn’t have told Eric the whole truth. Now Brooke agrees that Sheila is dangerous; but she’s giving Ridge that look like “this is your f*ck up, OWN IT,” look. Brooke is concerned about whether Eric is upset with her and rightfully so.

My girl Sheila is taking full advantage of the situation and very well she should. She’s been shot by the hypocrite, who apologized and she accepted. But if Sheila is true form and the writers don’t show their normal bias; Steffy will pay severely for shooting her. There is a price to pay for Sheila’s silence; covering up and lying to the police; AND getting shot. Sorry boo, Sheila doesn’t give free passes.

Wyatt stops by to see Eric, it’s obvious there’s trouble in paradise. Hypocrite tells Wyatt Eric doesn’t live there anymore and to ask his mother as she leaves. Wyatt wants to know what is going on and as usual Quinn embellishes the situation; needless to say Wyatt walks out as clueless as he came in.

Meanwhile on the seedy part of town at the hotel; Nurse Sheila is taking care of her patient Eric. Making sure he takes his meds and caressing his hand; awe, how thoughtful. Eric wants to be alone and Sheila goes to her room. Ding, the sound of the elevator, Sheila is on guard and looks out the room peephole to see Steffy arrive.

Steffy defends Quinn (although she said she wasn’t), many find this amazing; however, I don’t because as I said earlier, she’s guilty of the same thing, so she can relate. Eric asks her if he should divorce Quinn, she says despite everything he still loves Quinn. Then Hypocrite tells Eric to stay away from Sheila.

No sooner than Steffy leaves, Sheila is on the prowl back to Eric’s room. He tells her that Steffy wants him to stay away from her. However, he also says that Sheila is the only one that has been truthful with him. Basking in Eric’s words, Sheila goes in for the kiss.

So #BoldandBeautiful fans, what will happen next? Will Quinn stop groveling and begging at Mrs. Steffy Hypocrite Spencer’s feet? Will Wyatt get a clue and be able to do simple math to add up 1+1=2? Will Steffy ever be able to mind her own business? Will Eric forget the past and slip back into Sheila’s web? You tell me.

The Bold And The Beautiful Cliffhanger Friday; 07-14-17:Tire Iron Murderer Now Turns To Gun Wheeling Judge, Jury and Executioner

Well #BoldandBeautiful fans you know what time it is, it’s Cliffhanger Friday time. Today was a real cliffhanger as we jetted back in time to the “Wild, Wild West.” No need to delay, “Let’s Talk About Soaps.”

Let’s start with the TALLY/Caroline debacle. Caroline swooned town at the request of Steffy. Now I get the reasoning behind Caroline coming to town; she said that Thomas has been neglecting his fatherly duties by not visiting Douglas since he’s been at Spectra. No problem, I can buy that because even before he hasn’t mentioned Douglas except for the time Granny Spectra spilled the tea that he had a child. She phoned Spectra Fashions and spoke with Sally, immediately throwing up Sally’s guard. However, Thomas reassured her that he was with her, not Caroline.

We later find out Steffy’s motive is to breakup TALLY. Mrs. Busybody Steffy Spencer was on the case, she immediately got into Caroline’s ear encouraging her to make her feelings known to Thomas and that she, Thomas, and Douglas should be one happy family.

Wait, hold up; there was NEVER any great Carmas love story. Caroline NEVER chose Thomas over ANYBODY. She chose Rick over Thomas and later Ridge; so this great love story is coming out of left field. The ONLY time Caroline slept with Thomas was when they both were intoxicated and she had taken Pam’s prescription medication. Now there’s a school of thought that Thomas raped Caroline; I’m not going to go there this go around.

Anyway, Ms. Sally Insecure Spectra and Thomas was chilling out working from home when a knock came at the door. BOOM, it’s Caroline “Baby Mama” Spencer Forrester with Douglas in tow. True to form, Sally’s insecurities got the best of her and she bolted out of the apartment to confront Steffy about bring Caroline back to break TALLY up. Chile please, you never let the enemy see you sweat. Sally confronting Steffy was a rookie move.

Meanwhile, Caroline is making her faux case about loving and missing Thomas. Just when Carmas is close together within breathing each other’s breath distance, Sally returns. “I can come back later,” #girlbye, you are rattled and it shows.

Instead of being a bad b*tch showing you’re confident with your man being with his baby mama; she proceeds to throw shade at Caroline with snide remarks. Whipped a*sed Thomas, should have told Sally that was inappropriate or at the very least give her the eye; but he didn’t, he’s whipped.

On the other side of town, Quinn is busy trying to track down Eric and calls Steffy. She and her sidekick, lapdawg Liam jet over to the Forrester mansion. Quinn spin her web of lies saying that Eric is with Sheila and she “thinks” Sheila has a gun. She covered her tracks by saying repeatedly, “I can’t be certain.” Yet, she knew the very thought of Eric being with Sheila and a gun in the same sentence would provoke fear. Remember Eric asked Sheila to get his electric razor, so that’s probably what Quinn felt, not a gun. I want to know on what planet does Steffy and lapdawg take Quinn at her word. Yes, Sheila is extremely dangerous, but they just threw the history of Quinn out the window and took her word as gospel.

While Rescue Ranger Lapdawg Liam tracks down Eric location by pinging his cell phone. Mrs. Busybody Steffy is upstairs retrieving Stephanie’s gun. Shocked that Steffy has a gun, but not man enough to tell her not to take it; lapdawg and Mrs. Busybody rushes out the door to “rescue” Eric after she explains that Sheila is the reason Taylor was out of the families lives for so long. Can we say hypocrisy here? Since the rewrite of Steffy, she’s shown little concern or love for Taylor; as a matter of fact, she has thrown Taylor under the bus numerous of times. So, that’s going to be a #girlbye for me.

At the hotel, Sheila is caring for Eric, making sure he take his meds. Eric makes it clear that there will never be a rekindle of their relationship. Sheila says she know she wants to help people using kindness and people in need and he’s in need. But we know that Sheila doesn’t mean it, she’s trying to slowly massage Eric’s heart to want her again.

Banging on the door like the police, Mrs. Busybody Steffy and Rescue Ranger Lapdawg Liam pushes past Sheila to interrogate a grown a*s man why he left his wife. It’s painfully obvious that Eric wants nothing to do with Quinn and his family right now. But in true form, Steffy is abrasive and demands answers while her lapdawg waits for her to throw him a bone.

Sheila at one point says we all are leaving; but nope, not Steffy. Her erratic, controlling, bossy, everyone answers to me self is going nowhere. When Eric tells Steffy to ask her father what happened; she digs her feet in deeper; Sheila steps in and tells them they need to leave. Adamant; Steffy refuses and Sheila grabs her arm. Rescue Ranger Lapdawg Liam grabs Sheila’s hand and tell her “let go.”

At this point Steffy demands answers and when Sheila tells her she’s helping her grandfather; she wants to know how. Sheila says she will show her how she’s helping Eric and goes to her purse. Rescue Ranger Lapdawg shouts “woo, woo, she’s got a gun.” Immediately Mrs. Busybody Steffy springs into action, shoving lapdawg out of the way; grabs the gun out of her purse and shoots Sheila. Eric grabs Sheila and stares at Steffy while lapdawg and Steffy look like deer in headlights.

Now, many people, even Steffy haters are giving her a pass because 1. Sheila is psycho and 2. Sheila shot Taylor. Nope, not me, I’m not giving this violent criminal a pass. Steffy is always looking for an opportunity to exert herself in other people’s lives taking control. She has done untold violent and criminal deeds; i.e. locking Hope in the gondola; blackmail; killing Aly, throwing away the murder weapon and lying about it; electrocuting Ivy; and numerous other deeds.

Sheila wasn’t posing a threat to Steffy, why didn’t she leave as asked? When Eric stood by Sheila, Steffy kept pushing. It’s NOT ok to shot someone because another psycho told you they “thought” she had a gun. Especially when their back is turned. Steffy played “Judge, Juror, and Executioner” as usual and she will get away with no consequence for her destructive behavior as usual.

Twitter was ablaze with comments, here’s a few:

@pghmum02     She’s injected into every single damn storyline when are other people going to get a chance.

@brbl4                 They try way too hard to whitewash steffys actions and it so doesn’t work.

@bitchgodtemple           By shooting Sheila, Steffy just handed her the keys to the castle! She will now have Eric’s unbridled support & loyalty #BoldAndBeautiful

@FebWriter       However, once Sheila is back in Eric’s bed, and has his ring on her finger, Steffy better sleep with one eye open!

@PhilParis82      Sheila gonna get her later I’m sure. For now she’ll act like she forgives her just to show to Eric her good faith haha

Sheila will get her, if Bold’s bias writing doesn’t interfere. Fans are sick and tired of Steffy and the whitewashing of her character. So Steffy, it’s in your best interest to step away from the situation; because Sheila is coming for you and the fans are tired of seeing you in every story line.

What do you think? Is there really a great Carmas love story? Will Sally ever think she will “measure up?” Will Eric now turn his affections to Sheila? Will Steffy EVER pay for her crimes? You tell me.

The Bold And The Beautiful Cliffhanger Friday; 07/07/17: What Difference Does It Make

#BoldandBeautiful fans it’s Cliffhanger Friday again. Yes, I have been notably missing from my column, mainly because there’s been nothing interesting going on. Now that the infamous Sheila Carter is back, it warranted my return, No need to delay, “Let’s Talk About Soaps.”

First, the title “What Difference Does It Make,” in regards to RJ and Coco. It makes no difference because fans don’t care about them, their PSA “Don’t Text and Drive” storyline, or their teen love. It’s evident all over social media that “teen scene – teeny bopper love” RJ and Coco are useless by the many comments demanding they be written off along with the Spectra clan. What the writers fail to realize is that this is an adult show and no one is trying to watch “Teen Beach” on the Disney channel.

They are old and dated, even their story lines are old and dated. Fans definition of “summer fun” does not include RJ and Coco. The faster they get them off our screens, the better. The time they are sucking up, could easily be given to other characters that fans ACTUALLY care about. But enough about this snoozefest couple, I must move on.

Earlier in the week after my girl Sheila almost made Charlie crap in his pants. She went on to drop that dirty bomb on Eric about Quinn and Ridge. Yes, yes Eric was in denial at first, he refused to believe his precious Quinn could do such a thing and his son Ridge could betray him with his wife. Wait, hold up right here; I might can give a halfway pass for him not believing that Quinn would betray him with Ridge. Quinn is crazy; but she’s never been a cheater. But Ridge, for real Eric? You couldn’t believe that Ridge would try to take your wife? Really????? Ridge is notorious for taking your wife and his brothers.

But my girl Sheila was relentless, she wasn’t letting go. She dropped those bombs all over the house. When she said, “That’s the reason why Ridge and Brooke didn’t get married in Australia,” it sent him reeling and throwing a glass.

As you know the two culprits, Ridge and Quinn, storms in after their sudden sense of morality and wanted to come clean with Eric; but the deed was already done. What others failed to do, Brooke, Katie, Ivy, and even Charlie; Sheila had the courage to do it, albeit she had ulterior motives.

The cheater’s creed is “deny, deny, deny” and I was amazed that Quinn and Ridge fell for Sheila’s lack of evidence and confessed; and confess they did. They tried hard to get Sheila to leave, but she was going nowhere and when Eric began to see there was a shimmer of truth to Sheila’s accusations; he demanded Sheila stay. The two had to confess right in front of Sheila and we know that she loved it and was eating it up.

Well today, Quinn bolts over to Katie’s to accuse her of telling Sheila and to blame Sheila for Eric being upset. But Katie was having none of it, she was like, “What Difference Does It Make,” how Eric found out, you betrayed him.

It was evident during their conversation that Katie still has some unresolved issues with $Bill and Brooke. This is a story line Katie should be in instead of being Ms. Busybody up in everyone’s business. Anyway…..

Then the unbelievable happened; Katie hugged Quinn. WHAT???? Didn’t this chick just the other day pull a gun on her? Although the scene was riveting because Heather and Rena are both fantastic actresses; this is where Bold makes absolutely no sense. The confiding and the emotional conversation would have been better and more believable with Ivy instead of Katie. Quinn and Ivy has a developed relationship and although Ivy slapped Quinn into next week; the reason she did it was because of these shenanigans. It’s almost like Katie has Ivy’s forever missing story line. That interaction today was classic Ivy and Quinn.

Quinn returned to the Forrester mansion only to find that Eric had left.

Ridge was more concerned about Eric than his son RJ because he left him at the hospital for Brooke to take care of him. Truthfully, Ridge isn’t concerned about Eric, what he is concerned about was when Eric called him Ridge MARONE.

What happened to Quinn, did someone hit her with a stupid stick? When Ridge returned she went through this long conversation with Ridge. Girlfriend, the LAST person you needed to be talking too is Ridge, you should have told him to leave. But noooooooooo, she went on this spill about how Eric was the only one who loved her and believed in her, wait; Deacon did that, but he wasn’t good enough. Ok, moving on. While she spilled her guts out asking to Ridge, “Did I do that?” “Is it over?” He stood there with goo goo eyes. She sat on the couch staring into space and Ridge kneeled down and placed his hand on her shoulder.

So, what will happen next? Will Bold make fans happy and send RJ and Coco to the back burner? Will Ridge move his hand a little further; and he and Quinn end up in the master bedroom making mad passionate love? Where is Eric? Did Sheila kidnap him or did he go willingly? You tell me?

Welcome to the Chicken Coop, Mr Wolf

Chucky 2Politics. The word is so charged and laden with emotional baggage that many people wisely leave the room at its mere utterance. Give it a try, and if you’re anything like most people, the images it conjures in your mind are probably fairly predictable (and not at all unreasonable): Angry people yelling at each other, often-rigged popularity contests, and above all, disingenuous, unscrupulous individuals more concerned with attaining positions of power than with faithfully carrying out the responsibilities that are supposed to come with it.

It may surprise you to hear, then, that – of all things – the inner workings of soap operas are surprisingly similar to this latter aspect of politics. All too often, favors and status from personal friends result in the appointing of someone to a role of some stewardship over a soap that the named person in no way deserves. Today we discuss one such example, in the infamous person of Charles Pratt, Jr.

Of course, for soap opera fans, this man needs no introduction. A writer of influence for some time on All My Children, he was commonly ridiculed by viewers, who liked to joke that he “couldn’t write a grocery list”. His style and the content of his stories left it plain that he neither understood the show for which he was writing, nor cared about its integrity. Susan Lucci and Michael E Knight are among the AMC alum known to have criticized Pratt, and even to have approached him with protestations that their characters were being egregiously mishandled, all to no avail. Fed up, fans even launched an online petition, collecting digital signatures to demand that Pratt be removed as a writer.

So naturally, he’s now an Executive Producer on The Young and The Restless.

I’m afraid you read that right. Not only has Pratt never been punished for his careless attitude toward the show he was entrusted to guide and protect, he’s now been rewarded with a promotion. In addition to the fact that this is simply outrageous, it’s also a threat to another beloved soap, and it must be treated as such. This monster, who obviously couldn’t care less about the soul of the shows he works on, must not be allowed to do to Y&R what he did to AMC.

Fans must make their voices heard, speaking clearly and unequivocally their rejection of Charles Pratt, Jr, and be clear that they will not patronize his involvement. It’s his job to protect this show, but we already know he’s not going to do it. And that means it falls to us!

SOS & LTAS’ 2014 Accomplishments

The way is gonna beHello, Soap Fans!

Phew! 2014 was quite a year at LTAS and for the SOS movement as a whole! We at LTAS don’t like to toot our own horn—but it’s time for a “TOOT! TOOT!”Here is a quick run-down of the blog posts that have been tipping the scales in our favor—aiding in bringing back our soaps in 2015! I am going to present them in a sort of us/them format. The networks said “x,” we proved them wrong with “y.

1. First I will simply point out the most basic and important (to ABC/Disney) fact. nielsen rattingABC/Disney said low ratings were the primary reason the soaps were canceled, and we all know ratings to be the bottom line for any network’s programming decisions, right? Well, “All My Children” (AMC) and “One Life to Live” (OLTL)were averaging a 2.4 Nielsen ratting (NOT including SOAPnet viewing, DVR recording and viewing, but only daytime views on ABC). The shows that replaced them, “The Chew” and “The Revolution” started at a 1.9 Nielsen Ratting, sinking to a 1.6 within a week. “The Revolution” was cancelled, but “The Chew” continues to founder at this lowest rating in the history of daytime at the time of this writing.

So, in 2014 LTAS covered these topics in our weekly blogs, topics vital to the arguments for getting our shows back

follow the money the network2. The networks said the sluggish economy was making it difficult for them to produce the soaps. But putting some faith and capital into a business enterprise, such as continuing to produce AMC and OLTL, would benefit the economy, which would then allow for continued production of those soaps (not to mention profit), and on and on in a feedback loop. Also, bringing the soaps back to NYC could allow for the (re)creation of forty-thousand jobs and up to four billion dollars in revenue for the city. We think Mayor DeBlasio would be very happy about this, don’t you? It’s not just actors, writers, director, producers and camera operators who come to work, its caterers, set designers, costumers and all the small businesses that open to service these people. We must tell the story of soaps to the city leaders. We must write them, email them, attend city meetings and ask them about bringing soap production back to the city. Do they know what they are missing and that there is a loyal fan base waiting for the soaps to return to NYC? Probably not! And bottom line, as we know that is the big concern for any business, the return of AMC and OLTL and other soaps to NYC will be a big boost to the NYC economy! Let’s tell TPTB!

  1. gh kids3. Another untrue claim by the networks that they used as a reason for canceling AMC and OLTL was that young people don’t watch soaps. THIS YEAR, we brought on board two weekly Cliffhanger Friday bloggers who are “young people.” And all of us soap viewers know soaps make sure to cater to all age groups—even pre-school-age kids! Witness Spencer, Emma, and Cameron on “General Hospital
  1. follow the money 24. The networks said there is no money left in soap production. Our interviewee, Dr. Donald Boudreau proved that a total lie! He’s an expert on business and daytime dramas rightly pointed out that the daytime dramas have and were at the time of their cancellations big cash cows—with swollen udders and barely the ability to move!—for the ABC/Disney (not to mention other networks before them). In particular, Boudreau pointed out that daytime drama revenue helped fund their huge nighttime show franchises.
  1. reality tv5.The networks love to say reality TV is cheaper to produce and as appealing to fans. We disagree. Reality TV doesn’t have lasting power. It comes and goes, because viewers ultimately see it for the fast food of TV fare it is—cheap, sure, but ultimately unfit for consumption and doesn’t fulfill their basic human needs—in the case of fast food, quality nutrition, and in the case of reality TV, quality storytelling.
  2. There is no international market for soaps, the networks say. Not true. The networks make millions and millions in royalties from the soaps airing overseas. Please see our wonderful guest blogger, Lidia’s, piece on the subject of U.S. soap popularity in Spain.

hatie6.  Ha! Look at that $20 million investment disaster known as “Katie”! Gone, because of low ratings. 20 millions train wreck. That failed because daytime viewers want the masterful storytelling of soaps, no more reality TV and Talk shows.

  1. 7.Disney axed SOAPnet saying a dedicated soap channel wasn’t making them money. We know this is wrong, right, soap fans? A place we can go to watch our soaps in re-run, or for the first time if we missed the original airing was a genius idea by whoever came up with it. I had SOAPnet on all the time in my home! And I know lots of other soap fans did tosoap neto! And then, of course, any products advertised on a dedicated soap channel would see rises in consumption, benefitting advertisers and networks, and of course, they control programming decisions. Here’s another link to Dr. Boudreau’s interview post, part of which covers this topic:

  1. prospect park pic8.ABC/Disney says they can’t reboot AMC and OLTL because of the ongoing lawsuit between them and Prospect Park. We interviewed a legal expert, Troy Veenstra, who looked at the case and told us otherwise. You can read the post via this link. Just know this one basic fact: ABC currently owns the rights to AMC and OTLT, and despite the lawsuit, which involved only a few characters and whose expenses to ABC are like a teardrop of a legal bill in their ocean of revenue, they can reboot them at any time!

rp_Bryan-Frons-246x300.jpg9.The networks have said, or shown rather, by their actions, that soaps and soap stars are expendable, easily replaced by other fare. If this were true, would the cancelling of AMC and OLTL see a fan backlash like no other in television history? The networks said, and advertisers went along with, the insulting belief that we viewers can be trained, like simpleminded fools who will just take what they give and like it. Wrong! The Disney execs who tried to “train” us and follow their silly programming decision as the poor children followed the Pied Piper in that old fable, why are Frons, Sweeney, and soon Iger gone, while SOS groups, boycotts of all things ABC/Disney, and continuing actions by soap fans to save AMC, OLTL, Dallas, other soaps, and the soap genre going strong. We are not dogs waiting for our masters to teach us tricks! See our blog on this topic:

The networks want to make money. We understand. They have a bottom line, like any business. Our advice, BRING BACK OUR SOAPS, AS MANY AS POSSIBLE, IN 2015. We will not let them down, profit-wise, right readers? We are loyal, dedicated fans! Here is a challenge to the networks: first of all, get soap fans like us back on your side, and you won’t regret it—you’ll be rolling around naked in money on your beds! (Hmm—where was I going with that one!? But you and they know what I mean! J). CBS/Warner Brothers: bring back “Dallas” before ABC/Disney brings back “Dynasty” in 2015, which they are going to do. You don’t want to be behind them! Networks, when you see how soap fans make your primetime soaps a huge success (after giving them a chance, unlike was done with “Dallas 2.0,” cancelled before it could be nurtured and shown by fans to be hugely in demand, as the “Save Dallas” movement evidences, you (ABC don’t you want to be the vanguard here) will want to bring back your daytime soaps, and we fans won’t let you down!

Please comment, readers? What do you think about all these topics? What did the events of this past year show you about soaps and their imminent comeback,? What do you want to say to the networks about it? Comment, and subscribe in the upper-right corner of this page!

And, as always, Stay Soapy!

Decoding the Latest Development in the Ever-Tedious PP vs. ABC Lawsuit

pp abc picHello, Soap Fans! Hope you’re all doing well this Monday! This blog is intended to continue demystifying the lawsuit involving Prospect Park and Disney. Both this blog and the previous one , both of which are interviews—this one being just two quick questions and a link to the legal document Trevor McBain and Karim El Masri alerted us to!—with a legal counsel colleague of ours, Troy Veenstra. We would like to thank Trevor McBain, big soap fan and blogger, and Karim el Masri, also a big soap fan, for making us aware of the legal document that this blog references.

Do you know, soap fans, how over this lawsuit your trusted editor and friend, Akbi Khan is? It’s starting to feel like just another way for ABC/Disney to prolong the pain of soap fans like us and you. Am I right?

So we asked our friend and legal counsel, Troy Veenstra , to help us understand the latest legal drama (if only it were as interesting, well-written, touching, etc. as a soap!).

LTAS: What, essentially, is this latest chapter in the increasingly irritating and way-too-long legal battle between ABC and Prospect Park?

TV: Because the Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan is based on PPN winning their lawsuit against ABC, Wilmington Trustee’s say that it is unfounded, unreliable as its using the basis of the payment of the suit to pay their debts, relying on funds that currently are not tangible. Meaning funds that don’t actually exist and will only exist IF PPN wins their lawsuit. (This is kind of like saying; I will pay my bills once I win the lottery.)

Furthermore, because PPN has failed to release or disclose their monthly operating cost to the Bankruptcy court, the trusties want to change the chapter 11 filing to an all-out bankruptcy, chapter seven, liquidating all assets. I have attached a copy of the Bankruptcy Docket for your reader, it includes some information you might find interesting and useful.

Trustee Blasts ‘One Life To Live’ Producer’s Ch. 11 Disclosure

Law360, Wilmington (December 16, 2014, 2:35 PM ET) — A U.S. Trustee on Monday blasted the disclosure statement of bankrupt Prospect Park Networks LLC, the production company that tried to revive soap operas “One Life to Live” and “All My Children” online, saying it outlines a Chapter 11 plan that doesn’t pass muster.

U.S. Trustee Roberta A. DeAngelis argues that PPN’s disclosure statement should be rejected because the plan itself is defective and would only take effect once funds are available to pay administrative and priority tax claims, a situation that seemingly depends on the company succeeding in its $95 million lawsuit against the ABC television network.

“The debtor’s disclosure statement should not be approved because the underlying Chapter 11 plan is unconfirmable,” DeAngelis said in an objection filed in Delaware bankruptcy court. “The plan has an indefinite, contingent effective date and appears to hinge on speculative litigation winnings.”

PPN launched a breach-of-contract suit against ABC in California state court in April 2013, alleging the television network sabotaged the online relaunches of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” and entered bankruptcy in Delaware this March after its online versions of the soaps failed to generate sufficient revenue.

The Hollywood-based production company unveiled a Chapter 11 plan in August that would create a liquidation trustee to wind down the estate, and filed an updated plan and disclosure statement in October.

DeAngelis contends the proposed plan violates the Bankruptcy Code requirement that administrative and priority tax claims be paid in full soon after confirmation, since holders of such claims would have to wait until PPN has raised sufficient funds, the objection said.

“The effective date can occur only if the debtor accumulates enough money — presumably from the ABC litigation — to pay administrative and priority tax claims in full,” the trustee said. “But that contingency may only come to fruition at an indefinite future date and may not come to fruition at all.”

The disclosure statement touts the ABC litigation as PPN’s most significant asset, but fails to state how much cash the estate has on hand and whether it is sufficient to cover the required claims, according to the objection.

“If the estate does not have enough money to pay administrative and priority claims in full on or around the time of confirmation, then a hearing on the disclosure statement should not go forward,” the trustee said.

Moreover, considering the disclosure statement at this time is inappropriate because PPN has failed to file its required monthly operating reports since July, said DeAngelis, who concluded with a request that the court consider converting the case to Chapter 7.

LTAS: ABC/Disney still own the rights to All My Children, we know this. But do the latest developments have anything to do with or change the fact that ABC/Disney owns the rights to One Life to Live? Will this latest development interfere in any way with ABC/Disney’s ability to reboot the soaps?

TV: No the latest development doesn’t have anything to do with or change the fact that ABC owns the rights to AMC or OLTL or their ability to reboot the soaps?”

Hope that helped! In other LTAS news, we are working on a blog on advertisers/advertising and soaps. Dr. Donald Boudreau’s interview delved into this topic often, but this upcoming blog will be dedicated exclusively to it and will feature the answers of someone who knows that industry.

We would like to thank our friend, Troy Veenstra for his continued help in understanding the lawsuit between Prospect Park and ABC/Disney. Thank you, Troy! Veenstra is also the author of a book titled, “The Murder of Jeffrey Dryden: the Grim Truth Surrounding Male Domestic Abuse,” available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Soaps Are Family, Especially At Christmas Time

jack and erica wedding picOLTL Christmas pic

It’s that time of year again when I miss the soaps that are no longer with us the most. As I decorate and wait for my family to arrive for our annual visit, I think back to many Christmases when I found comforts in soaps and when the soaps were very much a part of the family celebrations.

I’ve watched just about every soaps over the years and I always loved Christmas on the soaps. When I think of Christmas and the soaps I think of Days of Our Lives, Another World, General Hospital, All My Children, Guiding Light, As The World Turns, Young & The Restless, and more. These soaps played an important role in my life and each of them gave me special Christmas memories and in many respects, each gave me a tradition that I carry with me even today.

day christmasOne of my earliest memories of soaps at Christmas time was watching Days of Our Lives with my grandmother in the 1970’s. Each year, we would bake cooking and decorate the house, all while watching the Horton family prepare for their Christmas activities. I remember the Horton tradition of decorating their tree with bulbs that had the names of each family member. This tradition is one that carries forward to today, and it is one that stays with me. As Alice Horton always explained, the bulbs were a way to have the entire family present, even if the actual person could not be in Salem, or if they had passed and were no longer with us. As I grew into adulthood, I borrowed a variation of this tradition for my own tree. I don’t have bulbs with the names of family members, but I make sure to buy dated ornaments each year as a reminder of what that particular Christmas meant to me and my parents. Each year, as I decorate the tree, every ornament has a memory and a meaning attached to it, and each time I view them, I am transported back to a special time, and I always think of Alice Horton and the tradition she started.

As I entered my teenage years I quickly discovered that time honored soap Christmas tradition of bringing hope when things seemed most hopeless. This was always the case with lovers who had been torn apart for whatever reason, somehow, they always found themselves in the same place at the same time to remember what they mean to each other and to give hope to the viewer and signal that they would soon find their way back to each other. One my of favorite Christmas soap moments was JennyandGreg amcwatching Jenny and Greg on “All My Children” in the early 1980’s. The pair had overcome their different socio-economic backgrounds to find love, only to be broken up by the meddling of others. Somehow, though, at Christmas, they found themselves in the same place and the magic of Christmas let them, and the viewers, know that they needed to be back together, and soon! I had the same a feeling almost a decade later when “Guiding Light” reunited Phillip Spaulding with his long lost and believed dead love, Beth Raines. With the help of Phillip’s guardian “Nick” who somehow only showed up at Christmas time, the two lovers found each other again and celebrated their very own Christmas miracle.

I’ve written before of how I always had the soaps on in the background while I was decorating our family tree and I thought of that this week as I prepared my tree for the arrival of my parents for Christmas. As I hung the lights and ornaments, my mind immediately went back to those many Christmases when I would start decorating around noon and continue on through the afternoon as “Young & The Restless,” “Bold & The Beautiful,” “As The World Turns” and finally “Guiding Light” played on the television. By 4:00 PM, the tree would be finished, the house decorated, and another soap-inspired Christmas in my memory.

Christmas, sadly, can also be a time of stress and sadness, if you are thinking of lost love or family that is no longer with us. In those situations, there is nothing better than curling up with a warm cup of hot chocolate, some comfort food and the soaps. Many sop writers realize that there are viewers struggle through adversity and they always craft storylines around the holidays that center on finding hope in hopeless situations. No soap does this better than “Young & The Restless.” Each holiday season for the past several years, that soap has presented an episode that focuses on one character and the struggles they face. Over the hour, that character hits rock bottom and with the guidance of a stranger, they reach the end of the episode, not with their problems solved, but with hope that everything will work out over time. That theme speaks to so many during the holidays and it has spoken to me many nicki drinkingtimes. The episode that stays with me most is the one that centered on heroine Nicki Newman. Nicki has battled alcoholism for years and as she found herself alone at Christmas and involved in an alcohol fueled car accident on her way to her daughter’s wedding, she encountered a stranger who explained what life would be like for her loved ones without her in their lives. In the end, she discovered that the stranger was her long dead mother, manifested as her guardian angel.

Many dismiss the soap opera genre, but when done well, the soaps are inspirational, and I for one have been inspired, comforted and uplifted by the soaps year after year. I can’t imagine a Christmas without the soaps and I hope there will never be a holiday season when I can’t turn the television on and share my Christmas with my soap families. That is why we must work hard to keep our soaps on the air, and fight to get our old soaps back.

Share some of your favorite soap Christmas memories, I know you have some.
